Postcards are of a Place: The Iconic Crowley Property

The iconic Crowley Property, a landmark of Conception Bay's north shore, was among the 200 structures lost to the wildfires over the summer.

We are working on a Pro Bono basis to document this provincially registered heritage structure that stood in Ochre Pit Cove for 110 years. This property was special because it represents an era of agricultural land near the sea with a residence, a large stable, a root cellar, a garage, and a paling fence.

In preparing these illustrations, a postcard felt like a natural artifact of the process. Postcards are of a place, much like this property was a landmark of Conception Bay North. They remind you of a moment, a feeling, and that captures what many people described when they spoke of the property.

In starting this practice, our aim is to lead the way in offering Pro Bono services in the fields of architecture and design. With the goal of aligning actions with values, we actively share our time, resources, and expertise to a range of community-based and conservation organizations.
